Pfizer Film Festival - Melbourne Congress

The 40th Annual Congress of RANZCO will again host the Pfizer ophthalmic film festival which will run continuously for three days during the Melbourne Congress. Submission of abstracts to the RANZCO Abstract web site are now invited. Actual films will not be required until mid-October.

Each film should be a maximum of 8 to 10 minutes duration.  Topics could include challenging cases; surgical complications and their management; new techniques and devices; community ophthalmology; or anything else that is interesting in ophthalmology.  Film abstracts submitted will be short-listed by a panel of judges for presentation in the film festival.  Selected films will be screened continuously in a specially designated area of the Congress.  Prizes will be awarded in three categories:
(1) Community Opthalmology;
(2) Surgical Technique; or
(3) Situations re-visted

FILM SUBMISSION PROCEDURE
(1) Short abstracts of 5 or 6 lines are to be submitted to the RANZCO online abstract site by 10 June 2008.  The abstract site can be accessed through "Congresses and Meetings" on the RANZCO Home Page.
(2) The closure date for submission of abstracts can be extended for films.  However, after 10 June submissions will need to be E-mailed to margdunn@ranzco.edu by the end of August.
(3) Authors of films selected for presentation will be informed and will need to provide the actual film to the College by 15 October 2008.
(4) Films of up to 8 to 10 minutes may be submitted in DVD (preferred) or VHS formats.
(5) Only particiapnts who are registered for the Congress may take part in the film festival.
