MABEL (Medicine in Australia: Balancing Employment and Life) by cprimrose — last modified 2008-03-24 22:19
MABEL is a landmark new national longitudinal survey of doctors funded by the NHMRC and conducted by researchers at the University of Melbourne and Monash University. Without good evidence about doctors’ own views, preferences, and work and family circumstances, health workforce policies are likely to be insensitive to the realities of medical practice and therefore less likely to be effective and maintain morale. MABEL is the first survey that will provide such rigorous evidence in Australia. Doctors can register to take part in MABEL by clicking on the link below.

Charles Bonnet Syndrome Research by cprimrose — last modified 2008-07-16 05:55
Researchers at the Queensland Brain Institute (University of Queensland) are investigating Charles Bonnet Syndrome. People with this condition develop complex visual hallucinations due to acquired visual loss. Previously regarded as quite rare, recent prevalence studies have indicated that it may be relatively common in those with significant visual loss (e.g. through age-related macular degeneration). The researchers have developed an on-line survey, aimed at gathering information on clinicians’ experience of Charles Bonnet Syndrome in the Australian context. You are invited to take part in the survey, which takes only 3 minutes to complete. The website also contains detailed information on Charles Bonnet Syndrome and other aspects of the research project. Click on the link to the website.
