Full-time ophthalmologist

A general Ophthalmologist is required in Tamworth, 400km north of Sydney, with opportunities for both public and private hospital appointments.  Each of the two resident ophthalmologists has well equipped rooms capable of supporting additional practitioners. 

Public and private hospital appointments are available. The Tamworth Regional Referral Hospital serves a local population of 50,000 and an additional 100,000 people in surrounding communities, being the major inland hospital between Newcastle and the Queensland border.  Participation in a weekly on-call roster is a mandatory part of the public hospital appointment. Weekly operating lists are also available at Tamara Private Hospital, Tamworth. 

 Additional opportunities may include:

• participation in a diabetic screening program;
• participation in an indigenous eye outreach and surgery program; and
• a conjoint or adjunct academic appointment with the Joint Medical Program of the Universities of Newcastle and New England.
